Parkways Foundation, the philanthropic partner of the Chicago Park District, seeks private investment to enrich the physical and cultural landscape of Chicago’s neighborhood parks. With more than 500 parks and recreational facilities, the Chicago Park District provides an oasis for recreation and leisure activities in virtually every community. The Parkways Foundation is committed to preserving and enhancing these resources. Working in partnership with the Chicago Park District, the Parkways Foundation will focus its efforts on three fundamental areas of activity:

  • Program Development: generating support for recreational, educational, and conservation programs with an emphasis on community partnerships;
  • Environmental Enhancement: preserving and enhancing Chicago's green space through programmatic and landscaping projects; and
  • Capital Improvement: rehabilitating historic landmark facilities and underwriting efforts to maintain and improve recreational facilities throughout the city.
  • It is Parkways' purpose to work closely with Chicago Park District leadership to identify projects and programs that could not otherwise be achieved under current budget restraints that help to bring increased vitality to Chicago's parks. The Parkways Foundation supports the Park District's effort to maintain its pledge against raising taxes.

Parkways is classified as a 501(c)(3) organization by the Internal Revenue Service.
